5 Brightest Jackets For Commuter Cyclists

Here's 5 of the brightest commuter jackets to stand out in the traffic

As a commuter you’re often putting your trust in the fact that other road users and pedestrians are aware of you – so it’s important you’re clearly seen amongst the crowd.

A commuter’s lifestyle needs to be light, compact and efficient, especially when it comes to clothing. It’s important to consider the safety features of your cycling wear to make sure you can be seen, especially at night. Lucky for us, reflective wear and brightly coloured apparel has been on the rise for urban riders this year.

Here’s 5 of the brightest commuter jackets to keep you seen and safe.

Mova’s Urban Cyclist Jacket (£59)

Straight out from Columbia, Mova launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their new innovative commuter cycling jacket.

This jacket ensures you’ll be seen on, and off the bike with an assortment of colours to choose from. The jacket is totally reversible – with a highly reflective and brightly coloured side for cycling, and a casual colour for off the bike.

This versatile jacket is stylish and functional with both waterproof and lightweight technology, essential for any cyclist.

Altura Night Vision Evo (£100)

We love Altura’s Night Vision Evo jacket designed with the commuter in mind. The flattering cut fits nicely to the female form, whilst offering sufficient wind and water protection, keeping the elements at bay.

This jacket is available in 3 beautiful colours – Dynamic Blue, Hi Vis Yellow and Raspberry Pink – so there’s no chance of not being seen. In addition to the bright colours, and 360 degree reflectivity placed in the areas research suggests is most beneficial, the Night Vision Evo has an integrated flashing ILume rear light for maximum visibility.

Proviz Switch Cycling Jacket (£100)

Proviz reflective cycling wear has a great reputation for their super bright technology, keeping riders safe on the roads and the 2016 line is no exception.

The Switch jacket has a reversible function, so while one side is a highly-visible yellow for the day time, the other side is a made from a dazzlingly reflective material. Grey in colour, the material has a micro bead surface which illuminates the rider when artificial light catches it.

Sugoi RPM Cycling Jacket (£80)

A simple and elegant design for the Sugoi RPM Cycling jacket. Available in high-vis yellow, this jacket has reflective piping along the front and back for 360 visibility.

For extra warmth and comfort, it has a lovely fleecy collar too!

Lumo Herne Hill Harrington Jacket (£209)

The most expensive jacket on the list is from Lumo with its redesigned Harrington cycling jacket. We love the beautifully cut Lumo jacket with extra attention given to detail such as the fleece lined collar, magnetic pockets and their signatory polka-dot lining.

This jacket made it into our top 5 list of bright jackets because it come with 14 LED lights fitted in both the front and back. With two pulse settings, these lights are waterproof, rechargeable and discrete.
