Team Kinesis rider Hannah Payton won the final round of the National Cyclocross Series, taking the overall victory having crossed the line first in four of five rounds.
The 23-year-old from Kingswinford in the West Midlands won the Shewsbury round of the Elite Women’s National series on Sunday. She finished just over a minute ahead of junior rider Emily Wadsworth (Beeline-Gener8). In third was Annabel Simpson (Hope Factory Racing).
In the vet women’s category, Maddi Smith (Bolsover and District) won the round, but it was Isla Rowntree (racing for her own brand Islabikes) who took the series win.
Payton is still at university, and following the win commented (we imagine after she’d got her breath back): “Balancing training with uni has been a tough balancing act, but the sacrifices have proved to be worth it.”
Payton and her closest competitors will soon be lining up at the National Cyclocross Championships on 7 and 8 January in Peel Park, Bradford. British bike brand Kinesis UK have announced they will be the title sponsor for the event in Yorkshire, where they’ve already been helping out the local series with pressure washers.

Yorkshire has a long running relationship with Cyclocross and Bradford is a great location for the prestigious event. We can’t wait to see large crowds and support from fans from all over the UK, especially on a course that will challenge the nation’s best!”

It’s been great to have been able to support racers in Yorkshire and now the National Championships too. We will have free goodies for riders and can’t wait to put on a great show, I’ve always loved riding the challenging course.”
