Your buying guide to bike locks
Their latest creation is the Foldylock, the third product to be launched by the brand. Essentially, it’s a compact folding bike lock which can be stored on your bike, or your person. This is an ideal alternative to the bulky, heavy chain or the awkward D-lock construction, as it folds away neatly which is perfect for transport.
The lock is constructed from 6 hardened steel links, covered with a reinforced UV treated polymer. This makes it weather resistant and friendly to your bike’s paintwork. The Foldylock unfolds to 80 cm which is long enough to lock your bike frame and one of the wheels to an external object. It’s also perhaps the lightest bike lock on the market, weighing just 1kg.
It is easily carried in a designated case mounted onto the bike’s frame using the bottle holder fixing screws, or with two specially designed straps. The case has a rattle free mechanism to prevent your lock from shaking while riding.
The compact Foldylock has a locking pin that can enter the cylinder from all angles, and unlike others locks in its category it cannot be cut from the side. The key is an automotive industry standard, a first in the industry.
The Foldylock Compact bike lock launched on Kickstarter a few days ago with the target of $10,000. However, this goal was smashed in the first 12 hours of the site going live, and the total pledges now exceeds $25,000
