The UCI World Championships continued in Qatar today, with the individual Time Trial – and it was USA rider Amber Neben who finished in the top position.
Neben completed the course in 36’37”, just over 5 seconds behind was Ellen van Dijk (The Netherlands) and in third was Katrin Garfoot of Australia.
The first GB rider home was Hannah Barnes, who came in at 14th place, 2 minutes 23 seconds behind the leader. In 25th place was Hayley Simmonds, 3 minutes 47 behind Neben. National Champion Simmonds is fairly new to the sport, and took 26th place last year in her first ever National Championships.
Neben rides for the trade team BePink, and at 41-years-old last held this title back in 2008. This year, she won the ITT at La Route de France as well as claiming the honours in Stage 5.
