Bouncing Back from Injury: Top Tips from XC Mtb Rider Lea Davison
A female-specific trail jersey, shorter in the body and available in women‘s sizes, this top is far from girly.
The Skyline Jersey’s horizontal stripes do nothing for your figure, but are a great design for making you stand out on the trails. The 100% polyester fabric is practical, quick-drying and made from anti-microbial properties, as well as a perforated structure that wicks moisture and keeps you cool. I liked the fact that the fabric is close-weave and tough, so it doesn’t snag or get wrecked on a rough ride. Although I did find it a bit odd that the washing label says it should be hand-washed, or washed on a cold cycle. Muddy MTB tops usually need a bit more washing than this in my house!
The cut was a perfect length for me, covering my lower back, even when in a forward ‘attack’ position on the bike. There’s even enough room in the shoulders and around the neck to not feel restricted, whether you wear the top next to your skin or over a base layer as I tend to do. Although I prefer natural fabrics, the top does pass the sniff test and never felt sweaty -so there is something to be said for it being 100% polyester.
Other discreet but handy features on the Skyline Jersey include lycra in the back of the neck panel, which makes it easier to slip in and out of, and a v-neck design at the front for added comfort and less risk of feeling strangled. Raglan sleeves with a loose fit make it compatible with wearing body armour and there is a hidden stash pocket for minimal personal items.
If anything, it would be nice if the fit was more flattering and a little less tom boyish.
