You know summer isn’t too far away when brands start launching new sunnies – and adidas have done exactly that with their brand new Zonyk Aero range.

Engineered with feedback from 2016’s top UCI road cycling team, Movistar, the cycling specific sunglasses come in two sizes – meaning that smaller faces should be accommodated for.

adidas are calling these glasses ‘next-gen’, with the claim that they allow for ‘safe speed’ thanks to a whole host of trademarked features.

The brand developed the glasses with input from pro riders, and chose to adopt a half-rim design to enhance lower and peripheral vision.

Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde commented: “Apart from the comfortable fit – thanks to its various adjustments – the clear and unobstructed view provided by the Zonyk Aero is extremely important to us racers. The new VARiO filters give us an advantage by adapting to different lighting conditions, because we often encounter changing weather scenarios during a race.”

There are 12 lense colour and filter combinations available, and adidas say that their ‘VARiO™ + LST™ + mirror filters’ adapt to any lighting condition, thanks to ‘Light Stablizing Technology.’ If your eyesight isn’t bang on without aid, then the frame is ready for clip-in prescription inserts.

The glasses have been designed with ‘adjustable Tri.Fit’ temples, with a ‘Flex Zone’ – this all goes to increasing grip on the face, whilst a Double-Snap Nose Bridge tailors the fit. These spell good news for women with smaller faces, who sometimes find well-fitting glasses hard to come by.

For sweat heads, there is a detachable foam sweat bar, which is shaped in a way that it doesn’t get in the way of cooling air created by the ‘Climacool’ thech.

The glasses will start  at £125, whilst top end versions will come in at £152 – they’ll be available in March from RX Sport.
