Thousands Ride London to Brighton Raising over £2 Million

The London to Brighton cycle ride raises funds for the British Heart Foundation - were you there?

Every year thousands of cyclists set off to ride the through outer London, Surrey and Sussex from the capital city to the coastal hub in Brighton.

The 54 mile ride attracted over 27,000 riders on Sunday 19 June. Riding on a huge array of different bikes – from slick road machines to mountain bikes and hybrids – the charity cyclists raised over £2 million for the British Heart Foundation.

Leaving from Clapham Common, the riders rolled through the countryside on closed roads, tackling a selection of climbs along the way – including the infamous Ditchling Beacon on the way into Brighton. Once there, they were presented with a medal, and no doubt enjoyed a drink in the sun on the pebbled beach.

The ride raises money for heart disease research and treatment, meaning the day out is rewarding in more ways that one. Here are just a few snippets from those who took part…
