If you are partial to pizza, pasta and gelato oh and of course sweat inducing climbs, then this is the race for you! The climb from Milan to the 591m Passo del Turchino may be gruelling but it will reward you with the most incredible view of the Med below before you drop into San Remo on the Italian Riviera. At the end of the 290km race, buses will take you back to Milan for some well-deserved indulgence.

This race is not for the faint-hearted or the unfit! Covering a total of 2,933 miles, this route starts in Calais and heads into Germany and then through Austria. From there it heads south to Slovenia, and then westwards through Italy and back to (southern) France. Then it's on into Spain and the long ride down the length of the country to Gibraltar.
This race is unsupported so if you do decide to give it a go, you'll have to get your own support crew together!

Regarding by many as the toughest race in the world, the Race Across America is one of the most respected and longest running endurance sports events in the world. The solo category is no walk in the park but the more recent addition of the relay option make it a more accessible challenge. The 2014 race will be the 33rd edition of the event.
