There is, we'll admit, still a chill in the air, but the season of short sleeved jerseys (and arm warmers) is not too far away, and we always find new kit helps inspire that all important motivation to ride.

Perfection in cycling jersey form will look very different depending upon the rider's needs. Some of us like relaxed and comfortable, others will prioritise breathability, whilst the speedsters out there will favour super slippery aero designs.

Most of us, however, will want a quality, wicking material, that pulls away sweat, plus pockets for storing phones, snacks, and inner tubes.

Thankfully, there is something out there for everybody – so we pulled together 10 of the best jerseys we could find, with a little something for everybody…

PICS Jerseys2

This jersey will catch the eye of anyone who likes block colours and bold patterns. We know the bold pink won't be up everyone's street, but it definitely makes a statement.

Cycle in the pink

Made from a soft, technical material, with a perforated texture for breathability, this Dare You jersey is a comfortable fit - it's not race tight, but will sit close enough to the skin to avoid flapping.

There's plenty of pocket space, a full zip and silicone hem grips to ensure everything stays in place.

Castelli Women's Climbers Short Sleeve Jersey

Regardless if you enjoy climbing, or if you just feel like you need all the help you can get, this lightweight jersey has been purpose designed to suit rides over the hills.

Quick Beginners Cycling Tips: How to Climb Hills

The small size jersey weights 95g, but it's not just about weight (though it helps!) - this jersey is designed to absorb as little moisture as possible so it's great in hot conditions, even if the roads aren't pointing skywards.

The material does have a mesh style to it, so an internal bustier ensures you're covered up, and also means you can unzip the 3/4 length zip without showing off (usually weird looking) bib short straps.

Rapha Women's Brevet Jersey and Gilet

This is a jersey with a story - it was designed with guidance from a trio of Rapha riders, who entered the 1,200km event Paris-Brest-Paris Randonnée. The riders completed 'brevet' training rides of 200 to 600km, hence then name.

These long distance riders needed kit that was comfortable from morning to night.

Review: Rapha Souplesse Long Sleeve Jersey

The Brevet has reflective stripes, for those early starts and late finishes, it's lightweight and breathable, and has three large pockets, plus a zipped valuables pocket, and a mesh-lined storage space for the complimentary gilet.

The striped gilet, which comes with the jersey, has a windproof front, breathable mesh side panels, offset zip (apparently for comfortable layering, we just think it looks cool), and reflective details.

The gilet is complementary, but for the price, we reckon you'll need to see this as two purchases in one...
