Last week we tested the Ladies Dream Waist Tights from Sportful, this week it's the turn of their Show softshell jacket.
This is a winter jacket designed to offer protection against the wind and so is bulkier than some other cycling jackets.
It’s ideal for colder days when you know you’ll be keeping your jacket on throughout the ride: if you took it off you’d have to tie it round your waist because it’s too bulky to fold into a jersey pocket.
It’s fleece lined and features a high collar as well as a thick panel of fabric behind the zip and a stretch cuff, all to keep the wind out.
The sleeves are roomy, so there’s plenty of space to wear arm warmers beneath if conditions demand extra layering.
The three rear pockets are practical and deep and there’s plenty of length in the back of the jacket to cover your lower back.
The jacket is well made, soft to wear and comfortable for winter riding: I wore it over a wicking jersey and didn’t over heat when riding hard, and I didn’t got cold when I stopped for a chat either.
I am a size 10 usually, and this jacket is a M – I didn’t feel I wanted it to be any smaller though!
Personally, I’m not mad on pink and black as a colour combination however the jacket is also available in white with pink detail and an orange zip which, for me, looks much more stylish.
If you're someone who cycles no matter how cold the weather gets, this may be a jacket for you, as it's not packable enough to take off easily.
- Fleece-lined, warm jacket
- Good arm dimensions, capable of covering layers underneath
- Disappointing choice of colour options at price level
