Review: Vulpine Women’s Ultralight Quilted Thermal Jacket

Vulpine's Ultralight Quilted Thermal Jacket ticks a lot of boxes.

A stylish, functional jacket you almost forget has been made for cycling.

Where can I start? I love absolutely everything this jacket has to offer. People often don’t quite understand how much love I have for bold and funky statement pieces. Orange is good and fluorescent orange is even better.

The design is what really attracted me to the jacket, as I like my cycling kit to crossover between style and performance and this is something Vulpine does extremely well. The Ultralight Quilted Thermal Jacket fits me perfectly and is snug in all the right places. They’ve managed to get a great cut on the arms, with enough extra room to keep the sleeves from riding up. I decided on a size medium and thought it would be too small, but there’s even space for a thick jersey and baselayer to be worn underneath.

I have literally worn this jacket everywhere, even my friends have managed to borrow it! It’s a great jacket for just popping out in as it’s super comfy to slip on and even though it’s extremely warm, its light fabric was cool on my skin, even in the humid weather we’ve been having recently. Its magical thermal qualities really start to kick in 5 minutes into a ride and its thick fleecy collar really helps to shield that little extra bit of wind from travelling down your back. I haven’t yet had a chance to test it in the rain but it will be interesting to see whether it dries as quickly as Vulpine state.

I love zipped pockets and it frustrates me when cycling specific jackets don’t have them! I was pleased to have two large (and fleecy) zipped pockets on either side of the jacket, perfect for my phone and granola bar. There’s even a pocket on the inside of the jacket and a nifty pocket at the back which could hold an energy gel or two.

The Ultralight Quilted Thermal Jacket is ridiculously lightweight and rolls down to a compact travel size. I think it’s a great option for commuters as it can be buried at the very bottom of your bag and rescued when the weather takes a turn for the worst!

Pros

-A stylish jacket I want to wear even when I’m not on the bike

-Great fit

– Keeps you very warm

Cons

– The colour looks more like a mustard than an orange on the website

– A little two pricey, but if it lasts long, it’s totally worth every penny
