Review: Polaris Siren Jersey

The Polaris Siren Jersey is a nicely designed base layer for mid-season off road bike rides.

How I Came to Love my Athletic Body

Constructed from a wicking material, the Polaris Siren Jersey is suitable to wear on its own, without looking like a ‘next to skin’ base layer, or under a secondary layer for added insulation such as a gilet or wind/water proof.

Having long sleeves is great for this time of year there is blustery wind, rain and sunshine within a few hours of each other. The wicking property keeps you dry and prevents overheating. However I found the material stayed damp for a while so although next to skin you are dry, another layer over the top is sometimes needed if you are waiting around or feeling cool. That may also be a symptom of this time of year with a cool wind around every corner!

The Polaris Siren Jersey has some nice features, with a detailed patterned top, and a great colour, which was mentioned a few times by fellow riders while I was wearing it. The lighter weight vented underarms in a contrasting colour was a nice touch and seemed to work well. There is a short chest zip which allows increased airflow if required. Also a small side zipped pocked could be useful for treasures, although I find these a bit surplus to requirements myself on an off-road ride where I would be carrying a pack.

It has a generous fit, so may need to size down if you like a more fitted feel, that said I found the cuffs were tighter than I am comfortable & suspect that before too long I will overstretch these to enable them to fit more comfortably over gloves or to push up on my forearms. They are a little tight at the moment for either. However the length of the sleeve and body is lovely and long, something I really like.

Verdict

The Polaris Siren Jersey is an Autumn/Spring staple which provides great base layer flexibility with nice styling.

Pros

Nice colour options and features

Long length sleeves and body

Cons

Cuffs were not wide enough for my preference

The material takes a while to dry out although wicks well away from skin.
