Review: Altura Women’s Synchro Short Sleeved Jersey

A striking design and well priced jersey, Rachel Sokal tests the Altura Women's Synchro Short Sleeved Jersey.

8 Top Tips for Training on your Bike in Winter

The Altura Women’s Synchro has quickly become one of the most comfortable jerseys in my wardrobe. The material has a nice, soft feel and the jersey is a really good fit. It doesn’t ride up my back or feel too tight in any places- I’m a size 10 and tested a size 10 jersey. I know not all of you out there are shaped like me, but there’s a high spandex content in the fabric which I found easily stretches and adapts to fit your individual shape, something which is vital in women’s cycling clothing.

The red, black and white colour scheme of the jersey is simple but bold- it’s nice to have a subtle jersey in your wardrobe you can match with other pieces of kit.  It looks pretty smart and I’ve had several unsolicited positive comments when wearing it.  The downside is that I’m never quite sure whether this means it should go in a light or dark wash!

On the rear there are two pockets, one of which has a zip on the outer.  This is where the properties of the material which give the nice fit and feel, start to come down – the stretch in the fabric makes it reasonably difficult to get things in and out your pockets both on and off the bike.  It also has really taxed my brain how to order in two pockets what I usually neatly file in three; that’s hours of entertainment right there.

The other thing I found was that the red panelling darkens when it gets moist, so your sweaty patches are fairly obvious. However, the fabric wicks well and dries out quickly after a ride but it’s worth a check that you’re decent before strolling into a café mid-ride.

And at £39.99 it’s an extremely well priced jersey, giving you more money to save up for that special jersey you’ve had your eye on for a while!
