Swiss based company Craft offer three levels of bike clothing depending on your demands, the Performance range sits midway between the Active and Elite. It’s a subtle but smart looking jersey with a full length zip allowing you to alter the amount of airflow to suit.
This is always a plus for me, almost all the way down for sunny climbs then zip it all the way back up for cooler descents and somewhere in between for everything else.
The material is very soft and feels lovely directly next to the skin, it is slightly elasticated too so clings to the skin without being too tight. I am a size 10 and tested a Medium which was a good fit, I dare say a small would have fit but it would have been on the tight ‘don’t eat too much cake on a cafe stop’ side!
They also have Craft’s ‘Body Mapped Superlight Mesh panels’ on those areas which get particularly hot and sweaty, underarms and back. It has three rear pockets and a small additional zipped compartment on the middle pocket too for valuables.
I found that my phone in it’s case was slightly too bulky for the middle pocket and had to go into one of the outers. I’m being a bit nit picky here but I prefer the middle pocket to be slightly wider for bulkier items then smaller bits into the outside. The rear of the jersey also has a silicone gripper to help keep it in place.
There is reflective writing or strips on all sides of the jersey (I’m guessing this is where the glow comes in), so if you get caught in poor light, you’ll be picked up from 360 degrees.
All in all this is a very comfortable, technical jersey that at £60 RRP is reasonably priced. I’ve worn it over a base on cooler days and on it’s own on long hot days in the saddle and it’s performed well on every occasion and has washed really nicely too.The pockets are a little bit of a bug bear but it wouldn’t put me off a purchase
