The Filthy Foxes Dirty Weekend at Newnham Park in Plymouth, May 4-5 is “a chance for women to jump on their bikes or throw on their trainers and enjoy the beautiful trails of Newnham Park without testosterone fuelled shouts of ‘On your right!’ ruining the fun,” acording t organisers Maddie and Jay Horton of Fully Sussed Mountain Biking Academy.

The weekend costs £40 and includes a mountain bike race on a 5km circuit, with 15km and 25km options; 5km trail run; outdoor circuits; a runners versus riders hill challenge; mountain bike skills sessions; mountain bike maintenance seminars; and coached rides of the event loop.

In addition there will be demo bikes from Specialized’s range of women-specific bikes, a skills area, elite athlete Q&A, under-12 races for boys and girls and support competitions.

The latter are yet to be finalised, but Maddie and Jay say they are thinking along the lines of a cake eating challenge, dressing up and obstacle races. Mmm cake.

For more information, online entry and a provisional weekend timetable see the Fully Sussed Mountain Biking Academy.
