Rochelle Gilmore Launches High5 Dream Team

Team will aim to dominate domestic racing in Australia

Some of the High5 Dream Team say hello

Australian cyclist and owner of the Wiggle Honda, Rochelle Gilmore, has announced a new, all-Australian women’s team.

The announcement of the High5 Dream Team is crucial for Australian cycling after the recent suspension of the Cycling Australia (CA) women’s development program due to financial pressures and an impending overhaul of how it operates.

The Guardian reports that Gilmore said she will aim to: “create an environment for these athletes where they have the best equipment, the best everything.”

She is also committed to sending six riders to Europe for a six-week training and racing trip, as that’s what the CA was doing in the past. Those six riders will not necessarily be from the High5 team.

The team members are: Kimberley Wells (Australian criterium champion), Rebecca Wiasak, Jess Mundy, Georgia Baker, Tessa Fabri, Kendelle Hodges, Ellen Skerett and Sam de Riter.

Respected Australian coach Donna Rae Szalinski will work with the team.

The news comes as Bradley Wiggins announces he will also be launching a new cycling team, for the guys.
