On a fair-weather afternoon, the peloton lined the start amidst a buzzing crowd of excited onlookers. Japanese champion, Eri Yonamine (FDJ) didn’t start today which left 78 still in the race for the final stage.

With a circuit lap format, there wasn’t a need for a neutral zone so riders were free to attack at any point – which they did. Almost immediately, a group of 10 made a break from the peloton including British champion, Lizzie Deignan. The group dropped to 8 at the 15km marker point as the leading group gained 25 seconds over the peloton.

The fragmented peloton charged through the streets of London as smaller break-away groups put their foot down, however, the peloton looked together and focused on lap 7 of 10 as they prepared themselves for the final lap.

Repeated attacks are made during the final two laps, but the peloton was relentless which forced the final stage to end in a bunch sprint for the finish line.
