This announcement follows a strong year so far for the team after their recent successes at the RideLondon Grand Prix with Barbara Guarischi, the Aviva Women’s Tour with Lisa Brennauer, the Tour of California with Trixi Worrack and stage wins at the Giro.

Team manager, Kirsty Scrymgeour, who has nine years experience in managing women’s cycling teams, says that she has made the hard decision to focus on new projects.

I’ve really enjoyed the challenge and the people I’ve had the chance to work with and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved over the years. It’s especially been a pleasure to work with industry partners and media who are supportive of the women’s side of the sport.

To allow for the riders to finish the season in a strong position whilst also looking for new contracts, Scrymgeour made the announcement early. She also recognised the fans and supporters of Velocio SRAM for the team’s continued success. On the topic of the rise of women’s cycling, she said:

It’s exciting to see increased interest in women’s cycling and I look forward to seeing that interest turn into growth and more opportunities for women in cycling in the future.

However, it’s not over til it’s over and Scrymgeour mentioned that there are still two crucial months left of racing, critically the defending of the team’s World TT Championship title.
Finally, in terms of the future of the team’s riders, Scrymgeour displayed no concern:

I believe in these riders, and I believe in women’s cycling, and I will continue to advocate for growth in the sport.
