Lizzie Armitstead Takes Gold at Round 4 of Revolution Series

Lizzie Armitstead is victorious at round 4 of the Revolution Series

The Revolution Series roared into Glasgow, with riders putting on an electric display for a packed Sir Chris Hoy velodrome. Round 4 of the national series marked the return of racing to the arena for the first time since the Commonwealth Games. The high octane event saw Lizzie Armitstead steal the show.

Armitstead claimed the women’s points crown after lapping the field three times. With her sights firmly set on Rio 2016 Armitstead blitzed the pack, laying down a display of true power and determination.

Jason Kenny reigned supreme in the men’s UCI sprint race, beating crowd favourite Callum Skinner, winning the first two races in a best of three heat. In a race for third place, Team GB rider Matt Crampton beat Team Scotland rider Jonathan Mitchell by two races to one.

Speaking at her last competitive race before attempting to break the hour record on 28 February at Round 5, Dame Sarah Storey said “It’s always good when Lizzie comes back, she’s obviously got a really good turn of speed and it’s just good to have riders like that in the field. I’ve definitely not got any speed. I certainly wasn’t attacking in the same way, I had to use my diesel to get up and close those gaps. So whilst it was frustrating for me in the race, I’ve sort of analysed where that puts me in the training”.

TV highlights of the event will be shown on Channel 4 at 7am on Saturday 7 February and will also be available to view online on 4OD.

Tickets for Round Five of the Revolution Series, which takes place on the 27 and 28 February at the Lee Valley VeloPark start from £15 and are available via or by calling See Tickets on  0844 412 4650.
