Halfords Unveil New Bike Brand ’13’

We get a look at the range of hybrid, road and mountain bikes from new bike brand '13' at Halfords

The new bike brand ’13’ is available from Halfords, and includes commuter bikes like this colourful hybrid model.

Halfords, the high street retailer known for the incredibly popular Boardman and Pendleton bike ranges, today revealed their newest bike brand. Called ‘13‘ and with the strap line ‘seize the ride’ these good looking bikes seem to provide exceptional value for money.

Calling a bike brand ’13’ might seem to be tempting fate if you are at all superstitious, but there’s a story behind the name.

‘Superstitious riders getting the ‘unlucky’ 13 number have always pinned it on upside down to reverse its powers and turn it into a talisman. Thinking smart, defying convention, creative the advantage, seizing the ride. That’s exactly the twisted inspiration we’ve followed to create 13 and it’s why every one of our bikes has a reversed number 13 on the seat post.’

The range of 15 different bikes includes urban, road, cyclocross and hard-tail trail mountain bike models. The majority of the bikes on offer priced under the £1000 mark, making them good cycle-to-work scheme voucher options.

A lot of thought, research and planning has gone into these. The lead designer has worked on bike design at some of the biggest bike brands out there, and has spent years working on this range.

These are also some good looking steeds. Based around mat black or white, flashes of either primary colours or metallics, they are visually very different from the majority of bikes out there.
