Hone Your Cyclocross Skills at a Coached Women’s Training Day

Training day this month in Kent for female riders of all abilities

If you’ve been following our cyclocross skills video series with interest you’ll no doubt be excited to hear about the women’s training day being held in Kent on Saturday 26 November.

We’re proud to join up with London Women’s Racing and put our support behind the event, which will take place at Cyclopark in Gravesend and will cover a range of key skills and techniques.

The cyclocross scene in the South East is booming with big fields of entries in the women’s division in recent rounds of the London Cyclocross Association winter league races. So TWC has teamed up with the experts that brought you the videos, to deliver a women only skills day at the same venue that hosts the South East Regional Cyclocross Championships, eight days later on December the 4.

Riders from London Women’s Racing League and The 5th Floor (one of the regions strongest women’s teams) will be on hand along with lead coach Huw Williams of Cadence Performance, to introduce less experienced riders to all the key skills required for cyclocross racing as well as offering more experienced riders a chance to hone their skills on the new Regional champs course a week ahead of the race.

Huw explained: “It’s amazing how inclusive cyclocross is and how many women are giving a try. This session will introduce new riders to the key skills of getting on and off the bike, carrying it correctly and negotiating classic course features like bank run-ups, hurdles and off-cambers. These are really quick-to-learn essentials that will instantly mean greater enjoyment of the whole cyclocross experience. As well as that it’s a chance for a first look at the new course for the regional championships so many of the more experienced riders who have entered that will be coming along for a sneak preview of some of the key features. And yes the rumours are true, there is a sand pit on the new course!”

The session runs from 12.00pm to 3.00pm. Entry is in advance on Rider HQ at £25 per rider.
