Organisers have announced the 20 teams invited to race La Course, the one day event that shares a finish line with The Tour de France.
Now in its second year, the race has been hailed as a step towards reinstatement of the women’s Tour and the equal prize money on offer is a leap in the direction of equality.
Racing hours ahead of the men’s finale on July 26, the 120 selected riders will benefit from ready crowds and the hype around The Tour.
The criterium style race will consist of fast racing over short laps, finishing on the cobbles of the Champs-Élysées, where Marianne Vos triumphed last year.
The star studded list includes hardy long term pro teams such as Rab Liv Women Cycling, Boels Dolmans and Specialized-Luluemon, plus Wiggle Honda and Orica-AIS.
UK team Matrix Fitness, who became a professional outfit just this year, have also earned themselves a place – an honour that was celebrated among riders….
