Reviewed: Loose Riders MTB Collection

The brand that means business

You may have heard of Loose Riders, or at the very least stumbled across their vast social media channels. They’re huge, they’re global and they’ve got an impressed range of mountain bike kit to boot. With chapters all over the world and a line up of stunt-popping riders, this brand is set for world domination.

After years of following them online and being dazzled by their outrageous styles, we knew that we had to get some of their kits in at TWC HQ.

Loose Riders Fade Forest Women’s Jersey

Yes, Loose Riders offer a pretty decent range of women’s jerseys and we love them all. Feminine cuts and a bespoke selection of designs make these jerseys fun, whilst being constructed to mean business on the bike too.

Made from quick-dry technical polyester fabric, this jersey is light and airy to ride in. The v-neck collar is roomy and doesn’t cut into the neck and the sleeve cuffs aren’t too restricted that you can’t hoist them up your arm when you need a little ventilation boost.

Technical fabric. Elegant cut. Forest colours and a good fit… what more could you want?

Loose Riders Rising Sun Jersey

Now, this is not a women’s specific jersey, but I found their x.small size to fit quite nicely and I’m a UK 8/10 on top.

Not unlike the women’s Fade jersey, this too is constructed from the same quick-dry polyester fabric with rich sublimated print. Because it’s a unisex jersey, it doesn’t have the same tapered fit, but that doesn’t really bother me.

Keeping the front of the jersey minimal with a panel of design at the top, the real action is in the back where a large Rising Sun print can be seen with the aptly chosen “Cult of Shred” banner.

There’s been some controversy over the use of the Rising Sun symbol as it’s famed for its use on Japanese flags during WW2 and the Edo period. However, some still believe it brings good fortune and can be found on may commercial items in Japan, whilst other cultures may still find its use offensive. Personally, I didn’t receive any negative comments whilst wearing this, but it’s a point I feel should be illustrated.

Loose Riders Shorts Pants V2

What can I say? These shorts mean business.

They’re thick and robust, so you know you can give them a good shredding in. There are panels of stretchy mesh fabric around the groin for movement and three waterproof zipped pockets for your essentials.

The enclosure is great because it’s got a zip fly and wrap over ratchet buckle, but plenty of elastic in the back to hug your waist and keep the shorts in place.

Perhaps my only critisism is that I would have preferred an extra inch or two on the leg length as the stiff material folds over when pedalling and reveals a wee bit too much thigh pad for my liking.
