Review: Polaris Mica Windproof Jersey

The Polaris Mica jersey is female specific, long sleeve, windproof cycling top. The soft shell and Thermastretch micro fibre fabrics make this a warm, comfortable and breathable top. This top can be worn on its own, with a base layer or as a midlayer. It’s perfect for road riding, CX and mountain biking – the flexibility mean the Mica jersey is more than worth the money!

[related_articles] The top has a full length front zip, chin guard, thumb loops, 3 rear pockets – the middle having a Velcro closure - and elasticated bottom hem and sleeve cuffs.

I have fairly broad shoulders, am 5’8" tall and tested a size 10, which was a good, slim fit on me so if you have a more petite frame it might be worth sizing down.

The slim fit means the jersey is flattering and comfortable. Having the full length zip makes it easy to put on or take off really easily if the weather changes mid-ride. As it’s breathable I didn’t overheat either. The jersey is a really good length, the back didn’t ride up as I was pedalling – the jersey has a lower bottom hem at the back - and the stretch in the fabric means that it wasn’t restrictive when I was riding downhill on my mountain bike. The sleeves are also nice and long, which I often find a problem with cycling jerseys.

I really like the colours too – a hint of colour so it’s not all black but not too bright or garish either. If you don’t fancy the black with green/blue there is also a black and pink colourway. The jersey has washed well so far and the fabric dries fairly quickly.

Overall a cracking jersey, ideal for spring riding and great value for money!
