Review: Troy Lee Designs Women’s Skyline Jersey

The Troy Lee Skyline Shorts are summer xc/Enduro shorts.  The lightweight 2 way stretch fabric with 10% spandex means they are nice and cool on a hot summer ride and move with you so you can enjoy every minute of the ride.

I have used the shorts a number of times and each time the weather has been amazing, with temperatures of up to 30 degrees; obviously your going to be hot in anything but these were certainly the best choice out of my shorts collection for that heat!

The 2 way stretch polyester/spandex fabric works so well in moving with the rider; they are so comfortable you actually forget you have them on. Tailored specifically for women they fit where they should but unfortunately they are very short!

A lot of women’s riding shorts are short in length compared to men’s designs, but these are particularly short. Looking at the size guide the length increases with size, so this may be worth taking into account when when buying a pair.

I’m a size 10 and tested medium shorts, with a 10″ Inseam, Having quite short legs it’s not usually a problem for me, but I had the dreaded flesh gap between the shorts and my knee pads whilst riding. I even had quite a few comments of fellow riders about how short they were.

A wide band of elastic runs all the way round on the inside of the waistband making the fit perfect, but if that’s not enough then there are belts loops too.

The ribbed stretch panel on the back of the shorts is perfectly positioned to stretch when you sit down on the saddle: so instead of the shorts coming lower as you sit to reveal your undershorts they actually Stretch on the ribbed panel keeping the shorts perfectly in place.

A few reflective TLD logos, an embroidered logo on the belt loop and the contrasting piping on the pockets keeps the shorts simple but stylish.
Pockets are plentiful; one side pocket; perfect for phone, camera or trail snacks, a hip pocket on either side; one with a double pocket and if that’s not enough, there’s even an inner concealed key pocket with elastic toggle to attach your keys too.

Unfortunately troy lee shorts don’t come with a chamois, which is disappointing as they are an xc short and are quite pricey.

Verdict
If you want to stand out from the crowd and keep nice and cool whilst doing so then these are the shorts to be seen in.

Pros
-Stretch fabric moves with you as you ride
-Fit well apart from length
-Lightweight cool fabric
-Lots of pockets

Cons
-Very short
-No liner/chamois
-Not much protection from the thin fabric if you find yourself skidding across the floor!
