A Few of the Best Women’s Mountain Bike Shorts

Dress those mountain legs in something functional, flattering and super stylish

As far as women’s kit goes, shorts seem to be the most difficult to get right. However, with brands producing more options, it’s becoming easier to find the perfect pair.

Baggy, long, short, tight, relaxed, thick, thin… we all have our preference for clothing that fits us just how we like, while still wanting to look good on the trails.

Up until recently, we women have been faced with a serious lack of selection for riding kit, in fact, many of us have resorted to men’s wear, and even children’s. Thankfully, this all seems to be changing with an increasing number of brands broadening their once limited selection.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite women’s mountain bike shorts that are in the stores now…

dhb MTB Women’s Baggy Trail Shorts

The women’s baggy MTB trail short from dhb is like the LBD of your cycling wardrobe. Fitting, functional and they go with just about anything.

Constructed from a stretchy, yet tough, material, these shorts have moisture wicking properties, adjustable waistband, silicone grippers and spacious pockets for your essentials. Available in sizes UK 8 to UK 16.

SHREDLY MTB Long

US-based women’s MTB brand, SHREDLY, has made a colourful splash in the industry over the last few years.

Lightweight and fitting, these shorts are designed to fit the female body with contoured lines and consideration for a lower waistline. Discrete vents in the legs keep you sufficiently cool, even during rare British heat waves. With a wide range of colours, designs and sizes, it’ll be hard for you to not find the perfect pair. ION Traze Women’s Shorts

We’ve been long-standing fans of ION’s MTB range for women. Their winter collection near blew us away and their foray into MTB shoes proved just as popular.

The Traze shorts from ION are your versatile, stretchy and all-around trail short to see you through varying seasons and miles of gnarly fun. Velcro adjustment on the waist helps you to dial in a precise fit whilst laser-cut ventilation holes keep air flowing freely so you don’t overheat. Available from size small upwards.

Fox Women’s Flexair Shorts

Fox was early on the scene with women’s specific kit, drip feeding the occasional jersey and shorts over the years – but now they’ve come out in full force with a great range for some gnarly fun.

Troy Lee Ruckus Shorts

Another popular brand in the women’s MTB industry is Troy Lee Designs with their extensive range of women’s clothing and protection. Each year we see their women’s division growing, and we love it.

Another big player in the women’s MTB market is Scott Sports. They’ve not only tackled the mammoth mystery that is women’s specific bikes, but they’ve also developed a broad range of seriously stunning MTB wear too.

A loose fitting short with DWR water repellent treatment, the Scott Trail 20 women’s mountain bike shorts have everything you could need for a comfortable and performance driven trail ride. Zipped pockets, chamois fasteners, adjustable waistband and a high backing for additional coverage, what more could you want?

Yeti Enduro Shorts

Yeti Cycles are a surprising contender when it comes to women’s apparel. Famed for their incredible trail bikes, their mountain bike kit has too been taking the trails by storm.

Their Enduro shorts are perfect for most rides. Super lightweight, breathable and minimal, they’re your no-nonsense, faff-free mountain shorts – they’ve survived Morzine and St. Moritz for me, so that’s a huge tick in my books.
