Great Manchester Cycle

The Great Manchester Cycle is a 13, 26 and 53 mile mass participation event on fully closed roads. It is aimed at cyclists of all ages and abilities and gives cyclists an opportunity to cycle around the city of Manchester. Riders receive a t-shirt, medal and goody bag on completion.

Participants have the opportunity to raise money for a charity of their choice and the Great Cycle aim to raise all important funds for Children with Cancer UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, Diabetes UK and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital during the event.

Water and feed stations are available during the ride for cyclists to use free of charge and all riders will receive a pre-ride pack with information on routes, start times and event information. The event also boasts an event village, food concessions and entertainment throughout the day. With children as young as three allowed to participate it is a family friendly event.

Over 8000 people, including Olympic cyclist, Joanna Roswell and a team of actors from Emmerdale participated in the 2013 ride, encouraging huge numbers to sign up for the 2014 event. Great Cycle is organised by Nova International and it offers cyclists the opportunity to see Manchester from a different perspective, as well as getting out with family and friends to stay active and raise money for charity. The event will be returning in 2014 on Sunday 29 June.
