Filthy Foxes Dirty weekend is a brand new women only running and mountain biking event launched in 2013. 70 women signed up for a range of activities over two days including outdoor circuits, skills sessions, coached mountain bike rides, led road rides, bike maintenance lessons and an XC mountain bike challenge.
The action packed ladies only event will return in 2014 following the success of the first event. Filthy Foxes debut event was held in Newham Park and had something for everyone to enjoy, as well as benefitting from the support of female instructors for the weekend. Saturday started at 9am, with ladies trying a range of activities. They had the opportunity to test out Specialized demo bikes on the trails and on the road.
A weekend ticket cost just £40, and gave lovers of two wheels, and running fanatics chance to meet new people and take on new challenges. Free camping was available on site for participants and their families. There was a runner vs rider hill challenge, Under 12’s races and activities for children. Aimed at both beginners and veterans, all participants received a timetable to ensure they had chance to take part in what they wanted.
The testosterone free event aims to give women chance to learn new skills and receive coaching to give them confidence to take part in the challenges. Ladies were given the option of completing a 5km or 25km ride by completing laps in a relaxed atmosphere. Details of the 2014 will be announced on the website.
