Reviewed: Bern’s Parker Cycling Helmet

The sleek urban classic Parker helmet from Bern will style up your daily commute

Bern’s Parker cycling helmet isn’t your typical looking helmet. While it possesses the same industry safety standard as rival brands in the market, Bern has designed a distinctive style which sets them apart from the rest.

The women’s Parker helmet is based on Bern’s best-selling model, the Berkeley. However, it’s had some much-needed improvement to improve performance, comfort and weight. Bern has increased ventilation throughout the cradle space to help regulate temperature, while the new 360 boa system enables the rider to dial in a precise fit.

The Parker helmet very much resembles a 3/4 dome lid you’d expect to see at the skatepark, but the detachable fabric visor and vents make it ideal for riding in around town. We’ve spent some time getting friendly with Bern’s Parker cycling helmet, and here’s how we got on…

Unlike mountain bike helmets and road cycling helmets which are built for long days in the saddle where performance is critical, Bern’s Parker helmet is very much suited for the leisure rider, commuter and city cyclist.

With a larger profile than most helmets, the Parker offers ample coverage around the head with its liquid foam construction which has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than traditional EPS foam.

Bern’s signature detachable visor is held in place by a popper button at either side. Of course, the function is to keep the sun out of your eyes, but it also resembles a traditional cycling cap that road cyclists adorn in keeping with cycling heritage.

I found the shape and fit of this helmet to be extremely comfortable once adjusted and tightened with the boa system. I felt cradled by the helmet which certainly invoked a sense of confidence in the Parker.

The strong straps that fasten under the chin are thick with a high-quality feel. They’re easily adjusted and any excess strap on the chin can be easily tucked away by a loop.

I found the two popper buttons for the visor to be fairly weak and often found that one side would pop out of place whilst wearing the helmet, which got a little annoying.

Bern’s Parker cycling helmet is distinct, sleek and safe. For £75 you get a stylish cycling helmet which blends the heritage of cycling with a modern design twist. It’s cool, it’s trendy and most importantly, it’s protective.

The Bern Parker cycling helmet is available here for £75 in three sizes from small to medium.
