The Dare 2b Blighted Windshell is a lightweight jacket promoted as suitable for many outdoor activities in a great bright colour.
My first impression was that this jacket was very lightweight which is always a great benefit. I liked the colour a lot. It’s a really bright blue which stands out and avoids that baby blue colour that many women’s items seem to be made into. I tried a size 12 which fit me well.
The jacket has very few technical features, aside from some small reflective detail on the rear and sleeves. The elasticated cuffs were a little tight for me; when wearing cycling gloves I could not get the cuffs over my gloves. This is somewhat frustrating for something advertised as a perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities.
I found the wind-proofing minimal when wearing the Blighted Windshell. In fact I ended up putting another jacket over the top of it. Although not worn in rain, when I sprinkled with water, it initially beaded but quickly started to wet through. I would not want to be caught out in anything other than a very light shower in this.
I was a little disappointed in the finish of this jacket; after only a couple of gently outings there are lots of frayed ends, and cotton pulls.
The Dare 2b Blighted Windshell is a nice looking lightweight jacket which is best kept for emergency use or fine days only
Good colour and fit
Great cheap price
Lacking performance or technical benefits to make it useful for anything other than a fine day out
