The offspring of British global retail giant, Wiggle, dhb have impressed us time and time again with fantastic kit at great value prices.
Online superstore Wiggle began trading in the late 90s, providing performance and active wear for everyone and anyone, from novice to expert. They cater for runners, swimmers and cyclists alike by selling branded apparel through their online store.
Having studied buying trends, and researching what consumers were looking for in their active wear, Wiggle decided to not only stock and retail large brand names, but to create their own and fill the gaps in the market - and the result was a new brand which we feel serves the women's audience beautifully.
Named after three key creators: Mitch Dahl, Harvey Jones and Paul Bolwell, dhb was born under the Wiggle brand in 2004. The aim of dhb is to provide stylish technical sporting apparel for men, women and children in a variety of sporting disciplines, whilst being affordable and functional.
dhb has since grown to offer a wide range of clothing for all levels of athletes, from novice to professional. The dhb brand has one of the most extensive ranges of women's apparel, offering high quality products at affordable prices.
Something for everyone
dhb's impressive women's line of performance clothing is widespread throughout sports and all cycling disciplines, in some areas it outnumbers even the men's dhb selection.
To cater for the growing female market, dhb have considered all aspects of fashion and function that women are looking for. This is reflected in the design process, the colour selections and style of the garments, which aren't all pink and floral.
One of the features of the brand we really enjoy is the way patterns are replicated across full outfits - so you can select a jersey to match shorts, and add in co-ordinated arm warmers, a buff, a jacket and even gloves. Of course, riding isn't just about looking good - but fully matching kit can make us feel a bit pro, and we can all appreciate that.
One of our favourite offerings is the Aeron Halterneck bib - so effective in its design that it won 'best on test' in our 'ready, steady, pee' grouptest as we hunted down the most effective bibs for quick pee stops. The halterneck design means you can simply loop the top half over your head and pull the shorts down easily as and when, and these bibs are pretty competitively priced, at around £65 with a quality chamois and material that performs just as well as major market leaders.
Perhaps the most significant appreciation of the dhb range for women is their attention to sizes. While a majority of brands stick to the standard sizing of small, medium and large, many of dhb items follow women's sizing as you would expect in casual clothing stores. UK clothing sizes for dhb range from UK 8 - UK 16, so you can be confident in your size selection when purchasing.
Supporting Team Wiggle Honda and Wiggle High5
In 2012, Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, Rochelle Gilmore, founded the women's Wiggle Honda pro Race Team. Competing in both elite track and road events, the pro team have secured themselves numerous titles in UCI World cup events.
With an elite roster of talented women, the Wiggle Honda race team took 16 wins in 2014 for both road and track events. This amount was doubled in 2015, when they finished the season with 35 wins, more than any other women's team that year.
In the short space of time since their first race season in 2013, the team has worked hard to begin the 2016 race season ranked number 1 in the UCI leader boards.
The race kit from 2013 - 2015 was designed and produced by dhb, however since the new team merger between Wiggle and High5 nutrition, the new race kit will be supplied by Champion Systems and dhb will sell replica kit through their website.
Our TWC Champon brand, dhb, have contributed considerably to the women's cycling industry over the years. They offer an extensive range of stylish, quality performance wear and show continual support through the Wiggle High5 pro race team. They strive to deliver products we can rely on, and grow with the rapidly expanding women's industry.
